A Bit About Tara:
Tara Wehr is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with a unique background in psychology, pediatric critical care, and behavioral health. She began her academic career with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Florida, where she also served as a research assistant focusing on pediatric behavioral disorders. This early experience sparked a long-standing interest in child and adolescent mental health and the importance of early, effective intervention.
She later earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University and her Master of Science in Nursing from Nova Southeastern University. With over 18 years of nursing experience across hospital, outpatient, and community health settings, she brings a deep understanding of both medical and mental health care. Her years working in high-acuity pediatric environments shaped her detail-oriented, compassionate, and family-centered approach to treatment.
Tara treats a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including anxiety disorders, depressive and mood disorders, ADHD, psychotic disorders, and trauma-related conditions. Her approach is holistic, evidence-based, and collaborative, with an emphasis on education, empathy, and individualized care. She takes time to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and medications so individuals and families feel informed, supported, and confident in their care. She provides medication management and brief supportive psychotherapy, with both in-person and virtual options for children, adolescents, and adults.
Tara believes that understanding mental health is a powerful step toward healing and strives to ensure that no one feels alone in their mental health journey.
